Heartwood is the strongest part of a tree, the core that lasts. It felt like the right name for this home.

Our clients, a family with two energetic boys and a lifetime of travel treasures, wanted a house layered in culture, yet tough enough for everyday life. The kitchen is where it shines: beautiful stone, warm light wood, and open shelves they once feared would only gather dust, now a favourite. Beside it rises a fourteen-foot slatted screen, part partition and part sculpture, shaped by our craftspeople.

The family room plays many parts: movie nights, an office by day, and a comfy pull-out sofa for guests. In the bedroom, we coaxed them out of their comfort zone with silk drapes, shagreen and brass, grounded in soft linen.
