Russian Hill Lagom
San Francisco, CA
Lagom: the Swedish art of just enough.
Our client loves Japanese culture, art and design, so we began with its quiet grace: the beauty of empty space, which the Japanese call ma, and materials left to speak for themselves. From Scandinavia came the warmth, a home that wraps around you in pale oak, wool and soft, layered light.
In the dining room, an oak table and spindle-back chairs gather beneath a soft paper glow, while ceramics and art rest on floating shelves, each given room to breathe. His two favourite colours, indigo blue and burnt orange, move through the rooms like a signature.
At the heart of it all, our craftspeople built a record wall with interchangeable shelves, made to grow with his collection and his family.
Just enough, and exactly right.
