Carved Senufo Stool, Mali

Senufo carvers never make these stools figural: all the beauty is in the abstract, geometric patterns cut into the wood, with the finest detail across the top. We used them as nightstands in a guest bedroom at our Clear Lake rental, and one would be just as happy beside a sofa or holding a stack of books. It wears the gentle marks of a piece that has been used and loved.

Styled in our Clear Lake Hearth & Horizon vacation rental.
